Situated in core zone of Wuyi New‑Area, Nanping, Wuyi New‑Area Sports Center is a key provincial cultural‑sports landmark and main venue of the 17th Fujian Provincial Games, awarded China’s highest construction honor —‑ the Luban Prize. Inspired by “Wuyi Camellia”, the complex consists of two core buildings: stadium and comprehensive gymnasium.
The stadium canopy adopts elliptical large‑span spatial pipe‑truss roof, with plane dimension of 262 m × 228 m and maximum cantilever overhang reaching 36.3 m. Thousands of multi‑angle intersecting pipe joints demand fabrication error strictly controlled within 3 mm, bringing huge challenges for high‑altitude assembly and closure construction. Located in rainy humid mountainous area of northern Fujian, multi‑layer anti‑corrosion protection scheme is customized for pipe members, intersecting joints and supports, ensuring long‑term durability of the long‑span roof.
We undertook pipe‑truss roof steel‑structure works, covering detailed design, pipe‑member prefabrication, shot‑blasting anti‑corrosion coating, segmented hoisting and high‑altitude closure assembly. Strict quality‑control was implemented for intersecting‑joint precision and high‑altitude welding, delivering the large‑cantilever pipe‑truss canopy and building a high‑quality sports landmark for Wuyi New‑Area.
