Located in Wuwei City, Gansu‑Province, Wuwei Railway‑Station is an important regional passenger‑transport hub along Lan‑Xin Railway, undertaking massive passenger‑distribution and train‑stop‑over services as a vital land‑transport gateway on Hexi‑Corridor. This newly‑built upper‑steel‑structure project covers No.1 and No.2 passenger‑platforms, with a total projected canopy‑area of 9,483.1 ㎡, including 5,835.1 ㎡ for Platform‑1 and 3,648 ㎡ for Platform‑2. Large‑span steel‑truss system is adopted for the canopy roof. The continuous long‑span shelter provides sun‑shading and rain‑protection for waiting‑passengers, greatly improving open‑air waiting‑environment and upgrading the station’s service‑quality and urban‑image.
Constructed adjacent to in‑service railway‑lines, this high‑altitude project features strict safety‑requirements for hoisting and hot‑welding over platforms, tracks and electrified‑catenary‑system. Cross‑track operations can only be carried out within limited railway‑maintenance‑time windows. The ultra‑long multi‑span canopy contains numerous steel‑members. Major construction‑challenges include precision‑control during off‑site fabrication, segmented high‑altitude hoisting, truss‑alignment calibration, support‑installation and deflection‑monitoring during structural‑unloading. Situated in inland Hexi‑Corridor with sharp day‑night‑temperature‑difference, frigid‑winter and heavy‑wind‑sand‑load, the steel‑structure is mechanically‑checked according to northwest‑China railway‑construction‑codes. Hot‑dip‑galvanization plus finish‑coating anti‑corrosion system is applied for all primary‑secondary steel‑members against wind‑sand‑erosion. Integrated lightning‑protection system guarantees long‑term safe‑operation. BIM simulation is adopted to optimize hoisting‑sequence and maximize construction‑efficiency within maintenance‑windows while ensuring normal railway‑operation.
We undertook full‑scope construction of the upper steel‑structure for platform‑canopy, covering detailed‑design of long‑span steel‑truss, factory‑prefabrication of steel‑components, shot‑blasting anti‑corrosion coating, on‑site component‑assembly, segmented high‑altitude hoisting, support‑erection, field‑welding, truss‑alignment‑calibration, multi‑stage unloading, supplementary fire‑&‑anti‑corrosion painting and lightning‑protection installation. Strict safety‑management for existing‑railway‑line construction was implemented throughout the project. We controlled fabrication‑precision, weld non‑destructive‑testing, high‑altitude hoisting safety and deformation‑monitoring, and delivered high‑quality canopy steel‑works for Wuwei Railway‑Station, promoting infrastructure upgrading of passenger‑transport facilities along Hexi‑Corridor.
